so i keep getting this anonymous poster who keeps posting the same thing over and over again on one of my oldest entries. i keep deleting it but still its annoying.
not much new around here. my temp job is over, so its back to retail until something else comes up. so this is the second christmas without a full time job. thats depressing. it seems like its always something. that life never gets to that "ahhh" stage. im not sure if its never going to do that or what?
i just want the stupid economy to turn around so that i can get a full time job being a graphic designer.
right now im the most overqualified employee at my work. i have 2 friggan degrees. thats more than everyone COMBINED at work. wow huh?
Time keeps ticking down to D-Day. are we going to be ready i hope so. i guess most people at this point (32 weeks) would have a nursery, but we dont. we have to move a lot of stuff around before that can happen.
i guess im just feeling like when life gets you down, life's friend is there to keep you in the ribs.

blah
so ive been feeling blah as of late. nothing really new is going on and im frustrated with my jobs, yes i still have 2.
i wish i could trade them in for 1 good full time job that i would enjoy. but alas in today's economy that seems too much to ask.
so we get home tonight and there is a car parked on the sidewalk infront of our building. 2 wheels on the side walk 2 wheels on the road. this is stupid. there is ample parking and somebody thinks that they are way too important to be inconvenienced with parking in a space designed for CARS.
this has been a pet peeve of mine for years. people parking to "jump out" and get a redbox movie, or run into a grocery store, post office, pharmacy, fast food...etc.
why must these people think that they are "The Exception". they obviously see that others use the parking lot, thats what its there for. but what goes through there mind to justify there actions? "well I dont NEED to park...it'll just be a minute"
they call it a fire lane for a reason.
okay enough of that.
cool website ive found recently:
TodaysBigThing.com
it posts a video daily, usually cool or funny in some way enjoy.

baby on board

so its been a while. i took a little vaca from blogging. we moved, ive been working 7 days a week for a long time and my down time is precious so i use it. but here is a pic of our little one. its actually kinda old now this was taking a few weeks ago. but its still cool. when we got the ultrasound we got to see the baby's heart beat and it wiggled, which was exciting. miriam tells me that now the baby is the size of a lemon, which could fit in your hand.
we went to babies r us the other day, for 2 hours. just looking. i got tired of it towards the end. but i think i would get tired of being at best buy for 2 hours also. there are sooo many unnecessary things there, its crazy.
so im really into dexter, the tv show, now. we have it on netflix.
im still working in alton for 20 hours a week, and doing my retail job.
although the retail job is getting ever so tiresome. i pray a full time job comes soon. before i lose my mind.

Additional Job
its a new job but im still doing retail on the side.
for the next 4 weeks (at least) im the inhouse graphic designer/consultant for a non profit organization in Alton, IL.
its a bit of a drive but hey its an alright gig. im pretty much a one man show right now, which ive never been. i get handed gobs of text documents and i have to design them into books that are easier to read and somewhat interesting.
so i design presentations and requests for bid (books to hand to potential clients)
yup. its consistent hours and i dont have to stand up all day. :)
i think we are going to go shopping for jeans tonight, because i need new ones. all but one pair have holes in them, thanks retail :)
im out.

learning curb.
yea i know its "curve" that was intentional.
so im reteaching and expounding upon my current html/css knowledge. its tedious to do, but i am learning.
i was able to fix some things that had really been bothering me with my blog layout.
like how it cut off photos and videos on the right side. bugged the heck outta me.
but now thats fixed. soooo much more to learn though.
havent really gotten into css yet mainly focusing on html today.
which for the general populace is completly a foreign language. think of it as the building blocks of the internet and CSS as the legos, well the more adult technic legos.
yup

Seriously

what is the deal with people and small dogs? they always try to bring them in the store. and we have to ask them to leave. ITS A DOG. just cause its small and in a purse doesnt make it ok. no dogs in the store. period. well unless its a helper dog, then its allowed.
i really love when the people try to argue with me. "its ok, shes in the bag."
ummm....out.
had a lady come in the other day carrying a small dog. we told her she couldnt have it blah blah.
then she asked "well im just looking for one thing, could i stand by the door and someone bring it to me?"
my manager, "well what are you looking for?"
"onesies."
"like for dogs?"
"no (shocked) for people (lifts her dog up and points) like this."
absolute craziness.

Dreaming.
so the other night sometime past midnight, I woke up to the sound of a yell. not a scream or shriek, but a forceful yell.
it was miriam.
this is how the event went down.
me: (asleep)
miriam: AAAAHHHHHH!
me: "miriam, whats wrong? are you ok? why are you yelling?"
miriam: "i was dreaming... i was chasing a bad guy... and (sigh) i caught him, ...and was throwing dishes at him"
me: "what?!" (i commence to laugh hysterically)
miriam: (laughs then goes back to sleep)
it is one of those stories that will be an inside joke for us for years. i still will think about it and chuckle to myself.
hope you enjoyed it.

smellin good.

So after more than a decade i have decided to change deodorant. i have been using right guard aerosol since i started using deodorant. but alas i have grown to think there may be a better type out there, so i started researching.
decided to try a "stick" type, and went to target. after extensively looking through the selection, i chose right guard xtreme ultra gel.
its definitely different but in a good way. i think its working pretty good, this is the first day of use.
i know that no one probably cares about this but i thought its kinda a medium deal in my life since i dont typically change things that often.

Customers.
oh the joys of working with the public. and the worst kind of public, consumers. here is some examples.
i had a lady today try and argue with me about a price of some toys. these wooden little people, they come 2 in a set with a little book. we sell them for 3 bucks. so there were 2 sets both missing a "person" in the clearance section. they had been marked down to 1.50 each. so for the price of 1 normal set you would be getting 2 people and 2 books. well she thought they should be 1 dollar a piece since they were incomplete. i explained to her that there was nothing wrong with them just that one person was missing from each and they had been reduced by half, yada yada...
so she still tries to ague with me, and keeps saying "you understand right?" in a russian accent. so i explain it a different way telling her she is actually getting an extra book for the price of a "regular" set.
still tries to argue.
at this point im fed up and tell her the manager is up front and she can tell him.
and guess what he told her the SAME THING. she bought them for 1.50 each. BAM!
so i might start doing this weekly, telling about customer situations. so others can enjoy it.

Know when to hold 'em.
so i played texas hold 'em. on satuday with some of the guys from our small group. i had to lean specifically fro this night, because i had never played.
my solution i went on youtube and watched a bunch of how to vids.
ill admit that i was not too excited because it seemed that the sole purpose of this game is to win money, and thats the only time that it is fun.
well i was wrong, i had a blast. and i actually did pretty well. it was a $15 buy in for the night and i went home with $17.75. so i managed to keep my $15, which was my goal and actually made some money.
we are thinking of making it more regular event. which i think i would like. have a guys night and a girls night.
next time i might wear a cowboy hat.

Wild.

so when i first heard/read that someone was going to make a movie out of "where the wild things are" my thoughts were not good. i thought it was going to be horrible and the movie couldnt be more than 10-15 min long due to the shortness of the story. well there is now a trailer out. im still not sure about it, but im interested. and its cool that its not all CG. check it out here.

a little surgery
so for the past week or more the power adapter for my powerbook has been on the fritz. My apple care is gone so i cant just go into an apple store and just exchange it. i have been pricing them and they cost $60-80 for an apple brand. but i bought one off of ebay that is a third party for less then $20.
well last night it started to smoke. YIKES right. well i had to do some surgery.
and trust me its more complicated than it looks. after about an hour the cord is 3 inches shorter and not as pretty but it works like new. but i still have the new one coming, but it will work for a back up.
im not an electrician, but i play one in my living room floor.

absolute lunacy.

"Florida Woman Calls 911 After McDonald's Runs Out of McNuggets"
3 times i might ad. you think im joking. read it i mean seriously i heard about this on the radio this morning but i thought it was a joke. then i heard it "previewed" on the news, so i had to look it up. wow. she is 27 years old, what planet does she live on where running out of McNuggets is an emergency. granted they wouldnt give her money back but 911??? words fail to describe what im thinking.
on a side note who remembers these? i used to get them at my grade school family fun night all the time.

More Movie Reviews

Now this is a hulk movie, started fresh from the ground up and it WORKED. Man this movie is a blast to watch and eventually i hope to own it. completely rinses the mouth of the bad aftertaste of "HULK". the story was a nice balance of banner and hulk, action and romance, and the fight scenes had me cheering in my living room (i dont do that).
4.5 out of 5 stars
What went wrong with this movie? I dont know but it went really bad. and it shouldve been funny. I really like Dane Cook, hes funny, but not in this movie. Im not sure that i really laughed any in this movie. and it doesnt take much to make me laugh. steer clear of this stinker.
NO STARS

Hated this movie. plain and simple. if you liked "The Notebook" don't even think of this movie. it is NOT a romance, and it wasn't just me miriam didnt like it either. The tag is: "Its never too late for a second chance." I say yes it is.

My 360 is sick

So i had to send my xbox off to microsoft to get fixed. one of the cooling fans went bad, vibrating making noise and such.
Im going through withdrawal. sounds stupid but it really is an important part of our living room. no games, no streaming movies, no online socializing... definitely miss it.

In my opinion
Im typing this with less than a minute in the superbowl, BUT if the stealers win (and they probably will) they dont deserve it. one of their touchdowns should not have counted, He wasnt in the in zone, and terrible calls by the refs on the cards.
Now im not a football fan by any stretch of the imagination, but i did watch, and the cardinals got a raw deal.

newest addition

this is Arthur. he's my new Betta. some people at Pastoral Solutions gave him to me as a going away present. at first i have to admit i wasn't to excited but i've grown to love him. i think he recognizes me now because he gets exited when i come around he will come to the side of the tank im on. and he's not frilling to challenge me either. im getting him a better tank. right now he is in a recycled 2 gallon animal cracker jar. long story, but im ordering his tank today. ill post more pics when he gets in his new home eventually.

Horton Hears a Who!
So we got Horton Hears a Who! the other day with netflix, and it was great. the animation was top notch. the story didn't stray to much from the book. i thought the cast was great. why couldn't they have done Grinch and Cat in the Hat like this instead of horrible live action. i recommend this movie to everyone who was ever a little kid.
5 out of 5 stars

St. Louis Bread co.
ive never been one of those people that go crazy over St. Louis Bread co. (panera for all those outside of STL) I mean there food is alright, i like there black bean soup...
but the other night we went to one and i ordered a turkey sandwich and wanted cheese on it, the guy said it would be an extra 65 cents. I said that would be fine, i wanted cheese... he asked what kind, american. when we get our order and sit down and the table i look and its a friggin craft single on my sandwich! since when is that cheese?? that is IMITATION cheese. i hate craft singles. its like cheese flavored hardened glue. and on top of that i paid them 65 cents to put this junk on my sandwich.
i ate it because i didnt want to go back and complain, but needless to say im very disappointed with the cheese selection at St. Louis Bread co.
so there.
