just watched the movie thought i would share this. its hilarious.

pet shops

so ive decided that i hate pet shops.

we went to one tonight at the mall. it was so sad.

seeing all those puppies, in those cages. they looked so pitiful.
it really made me feel horrible. i never want to go into one again. its not like i have never been in a pet store before, just not for a long time.

when we got nessie i picked her out of a bunch of he sibling in a nice warm barn filled with straw. they ran around and had fun, not in cages.

i havent updated for a while. i have been very busy, as the title states. btu i have about 3 posts in my head that i need to get out. hopefully i will make time for that tonight, maybe. but until then heres some thoughts....

so today is my last day at my current job. doubt that anything special is going to happen. but i am excited about my day off tomorrow and then starting my new job on thursday.

its thursday

yea so what, right?

well its cool because:

1. its like 5 days till i start my new job! and im really looking forward to it.

2. miriam and i fixed potato soup tonight. you know that it officially winter when you break out the potato soup. growing up that was pretty much the only time my mom fixed it, unless we specifically requested it. so potato soup holds a very near and dear place in my heart.

it snowed and sleeted here today. plus its REALLY cold out. we have had to turn the heat on for the past couple days. we live on the top floor so our apartment only drops to between 55-60 with out the heat but but right now we have it around 65. which is crazy because when i was a kid like 70 was freezing and now im comfortable at 60-65. i mean im not sitting around in shorts but im ok.

oh yea i cut my finger last night. its not really serious i glued the piece back on, and it should be fine.







no im kidding. its kinda hard to explain i might take a pic of it tomorrow.

if water melted the wicked witch of the west, is it any surprise that she was green i mean she didnt BATHE. plus she must have been really dehydrated since humans are like 70% water. anyway just a thought.

hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. we did. we went to springfield mo, where miriams parents live, also the rest of her family (siblings and here family) were there. so lots of people, lots of fun, lots of good food.

i have been offered a new job with a "creative group" they are called that because the encompass all kinds of design.

well monday night heroes ROCKED MY FACE OFF! it was so good, its really pickin up speed now.

got my cars scratch touched up yesterday, i forgot to take a before picture, so thats a bummer. but he still has to wet sand and polish it. so ill hopefully take it in on thursday or friday.

for those of you who know my appointment went really well last night.

tonight we have a meeting with the photographer (wedding, yea i know) there doing a photo shoot to fix miriams bouquet throwing pic. ill take my camera if i remember.

TV disaster?

im not sure if you have heard or not but we as a nation might be on the verge of complete network shutdown!

ok maybe thats a little extreme but really it could get bad.

the screen writing guild starts its strike monday at 12:01am, this could spell trouble in a large way.

"The 1988 writers strike lasted 22 weeks. It was catastrophic: It cost the industry an estimated $500 million and the broadcast networks saw a 9 to 10 percent drop in their audience as viewers switched over to cable. Industry insiders predict the effects of a strike now could be just as bad."

this would go across all networks and hit all prime time shows, heroes, the office, house, etc.

delayed great news

we got the Versa last week tuesday night. we had to go down to carbondale to close on the loan, which ended up taking all day. the short story is that they had the paper work we were waiting on when they (the bank) first opened, but it was laying on the desk of someone who had the day off. so we came home and went strait to pick up the car. and let me tell you all the frustration just went away driving my new car home.

i know it sounds corny but this is the newest car i have ever had. and the first one that i have bought.

we had planed to go down and finalize the loan on saturday but the paper work from the place he got his loan from had a "processing time"

i like to call it a "frustrating time" so we are waiting to here from the bank and then we go finalize.

hoping and praying we hear from them tomorrow. that would rock!

we had a relaxing weekend, other then that. ill post more later.

car situation update

here is hopefully our future car i really like it and we should here from the bank tomorrow. ill have better pics after we get it since i didnt these the current owner did.


ok so a few thoughts i had today.

1. i was at work and thinking about how my dad has seen 300 but i havent yet. this sparked more thoughts about my dad and his taste in movies the past couple years. im not sure if im rubbing off on him, or if his taste was this way before, but he likes some of the movies that i wouldnt think he would. for example 300, sin city, ummm what else... im not sure right now. i think its cool. he usually watches them when my mom is busy or gone for a while.

2. tonight at the grocery store i saw a "baked onion cooker". i had to pick it up for a closer look. its a container you stick in the micowave to "bake" an onion like a potato and eat it. i have never heard of anyone eating a baked onion. if you have let me know. cause it sounds gross.

thats right it wasnt pretty on the outside, but it was downright ugly on the inside.

so let the car shopping begin. we have found some great prospects. so keep up the prayer. we didnt get a lot for the car, wasnt really surprised, so the budget is tight. so kinda changes weekend plans a little. more car shopping less, whatever else.

on a ore positive note, the office was hilarious tonight.

thats the question that we have been waiting all day to hear answered.

it happened monday morning as i was going to work. i was driving the speed limit 15mph, slow huh, and the guy pulled out in front of me. crunch! all he has is a few scratched and a crooked bumper. and im the one waiting to hear if its totaled. fair huh? yea i had to have it towed since the wheel well was against the tire.

im getting a rental in the morning. turns out they have a special price for state farm customers without the rental car policy. thats me. so i think its a cobalt. never have driven one of those.

so i guess just pray for us. that our car is fixable and that we dont have to completely rework our budget to buy a car.

so i realized this morning that i havent made a post in a while. made a post? i dont know if thats worded right. whatever.

this week has been kinda screwy. work has been crazy. storms. frustrations. etc

but these are all really excuses.the only reason that i havent posted is that i havent.

heres the skinny.

im starving for design. i want no scatch that i need it. and im not talking little come home after work and do it while watching tv stuff. i want to design full time.

this is what i went to school for and dreamed of for years. its not that i dont like my job that i have right now it just feels like im in limbo. im wasting my talent and i feel im going to lose it. like atrophied or something.

so that said im not waiting around and eagerly waiting for something to pop up on craigslist or any other site. im taking it to their door. starting tomorrow im going to update my resume and start the active hunt.

we were in the grocery store the other day. we were sharing an isle with a boy and his mother, the boy was wearing roller shoes. his mother already irritated with him says something like, i told you i want you to walk. ookkkaaayyyy... he sighs. slips behind his mom and skates some more almost running into another mans cart.

The Number 23

i forgot to review this movie. i saw it like a month or so ago. i will when i get beck home ive gotta leave right now though.

Shooter

watched shooter last night. i liked it a lot. the action was great, the story is full of suspense, and there is sorta a love story thrown in to boot.

im not going to give a synopsis thats not what i do. but i will say that its an intense thrill ride not to sound cliche. mark walberg in my openion is an average actor butthis movie actually makes me think he getting better. he really fills the character out and make you believe that he is the best sniper in the world.

plus as a cool side note on the special features it has interviews with the real marine sniper who trained him. sso you get to learn if the tech is real or not.

again really liked it. felt like a realistic rambo, but with a story that you dont have to check your brain at the door.

id give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Cardinals Baseball

yes i know they suck right now. i mean really suck.

but we got free tickets to the game tonight. so we went we had a good time. not because the cardinals won, because they didnt. but because i was with my wonderful wife and because of the craziness that happens at the game.

i went to blockbuster and when i went to open my door, the handle broke.

i had to roll the window down and use the outside handle to get out.

Rate Hike!

so we got a letter from our apartment office asking us if we were going to re sign the lease, and telling us instructions either way.

yea if we resign the rent goes up 50 bucks!



and heres the kicker they told us it wouldnt when we first signed the lease, but there isnt really anything we can do about it.

trust me.

i called the states attorneys office.

but if we move we have to pay more and more our stuff.

so yea fun situation huh?

Disaster Strikes!

so this evening when i came home miriam was not there. dont worry she just ran to the grocery store.

but when she did get home she had a horrible headache and asked me to put away the groceries.

i proceeded to do so and thats when things went bad.

before i go further let me set the scene. we like arizona tea. and we buy several when they are on sale. so we store the extras on top of the fridge.

so when i opened the freezer door this happened:



this is what a jug of tea loots like after it falls off the top of the fridge a EXPLODES all over me and the kitchen.

im not sure that i can adequately describe what all over the kitchen means.

i mean everywhere, in the fridge, on the cabinets, drawers, dishwasher, oven, not to mention the new lake in the middle of the floor.

so 4 towels and mopping, vacuuming, and washing the floor by hand, which my loving wife did, the kitchen is back to normal sans 1 gallon of tea.

i think the reason my wife so lovingly cleaned the mess up is that unknown to me at the time she had moved the tea earlier to get her cookbook placing the jug precariously half on the fridge and half on the freezer door.

i dont blame her it was an accident.

its funny know and im sure you are enjoying reading it so overall a positive story.

OUCH

so i got stung by a wasp today.

in the neck.

yea it hurt. (answered that question)


and here is the real irony of the story, just yesterday the guys were freakin out because there was a wasp in the building. i told them not to bother it and it wont sting you. i saved its life!

then today for no reason at all BAM right in the neck.

so i got an anti sting swab out of the first aid kit, and took care of it.

didnt see the wasp for a while.

when i saw him i got even i hit him to the ground, then did the smash and twist move on him.

he was D E A D.

...and then i set him on fire.



yes that wasp will think twice about stinging me again. well if he wasnt a charred smear.

Springfield

we are in springfield mo visiting miriams parents. i have pictures to post but my camera is downstairs right now and im not going to go down and get it. yes lazy i know. but we are having a great time. yesterday miriam and her mom went shopping and her dad and i went to this great civil war museum and then went and looked at hybrid cars. i test drove a civic hyrid.


i liked how it drove it is slightly different then a "regular" car. i mean its really weird when the gas engine shuts off at stops and low speeds. eerie really.

i also looked at a prius but couldnt drive it because it was sold. :( so i wasnt able to compare the rides.

the prius felt like a more complex car. very gadgety. but it did have a back up camera and more storage. so more on those cars later.

i promise.

ok so two stories.

one.
today the lead designer at work, the one who is moving next thursday, had an "accident" at work. well let me explain. he came into work and i could tell he wasnt in a very good mood. well a couple hours went by and he came to the back yelling about a file and why was it on his desk again? then he was saying its wasting his time getting archived files to print. he then went into a rage yelling profanities, he then crumpled the file up yelled and started kicking things ending with kicking a computer chair 2 or 3 times. stormed out the back. he returned 30 min later limping and went back to work.

later he came to the back again and asked where the first aid kit was. he wrapped his foot up all the while complaining how bad it hurt. barely able to walk he returned up front.
later i asked him "what he was going to tell the doctor when he asked how he broke his foot?" he scoffed and said he wasnt going to the doctor.

around 4 he left to go to the emergency room.

HA! i was right. i guess we will find out if its broke tomorrow.

second story. while picking up my computer i got to help a mac specialist and a customer by walking them through how to do something in photoshop. it was pretty awesome. that i was helping a professional and a total stranger with photoshop.


oh yea. did i tell you that i got my computer back? I DID. brand new screen. and a brand new plug. its like a brand new computer. SWEET!

hard time blogin...

i actually have a reason this time as to why i havent posted in a while. my lap top isnt in my possesion as of write now. i had noticed some white spots appearing on my screen. this isnt my powerbook but ill use it to show what im talking about.

mine was not nearly this bad but i didnt want it getting any worse. seeing as my apple care runs out in a month or so i decided to jump on it and get it taken care of. so right now miriam and i are using her hp to surf and check email and such. her internet explorer has been acting up though. everytime you try to close out of it the program freezes up. thats windows for ya.

OOOOOHHH! in your face microsoft. riiiight im silly.

so hopefuly ill be getting it back here in a few days, fingers crossed. i did a back up of my hard drive hopefully ill be able to easily restore everything to what it was. im not counting on that though lol.

we painted pottery over the weekend we made coasters. it wwas fun ill post pictures when we get them back. im excited to see how they turn out. miriam and i did three each. we went to a place called "the painting paw" i think. miriam wil correct me if im wrong lol. but i recommend that if you go already have ideas thought up or it will take a lot longer. i mean youll be there for a couple hours anyway, depending on what you paint. but its worth it.

writers block with just a splash of random

i havent written on here in a week or so. i dont want to write another movie review right after i wrote those last ones. i mean i like to write reviews i just dont want my blog to turn in to a movie blog.

so our apartment complex has a pool. nothing odd about that lots of apartments have that. i have been once all summer, yes thats right, one time. its not that i dont like to swim i really do. its that whole public thing.

ever since grade school i havent been a big fan of the whole public thing. im not sure when it started i know that when i was little i liked water parks, movie theaters, and used public restrooms.

then it was hard for me to go to theaters, i wouldnt use restrooms and no waterparks or public pools.

but over the course of say a decade or so plus a councilor and medication pretty much back to normal, kinda.

well back to my story with the pool. i have gone once because 1. i havent made time. 2. still dont like public pools. and 3. there is a creepy guy thats always there.


he is this guy that is in a motorized wheelchair, and hes ALWAYS there. i mean the guy cant swim, his family is rarely there and he is a pervert. he talks to young ladies asking names and trying to get information, even though they dont want to give it. miriam knows this first hand. he asked her name she said mrs. smith he went over and tried to read it off of the sign in sheet.
today as i drove by i saw him sitting across the pool staring at a woman laying out. i know that there is most likely nothing that can be done because he has every right to be there and he is handicapped which makes it even more touchy. but still i wonder if people have complained or let it slide because of his "condition".

if im sounding mean or anti-handicap people. im not. im just writing out my thoughts on the unique situation. i wonder what anyone would do if he wasnt in a wheelchair.

would they tell him to buzz off. get lost. ?

we live in a society where we are so careful not to hurt anyones feeling or be unPC. but what does that accomplish people that are "nice" normally are so scared about saying the wrong thing that they go out of there way to prove that they are "nice". while the people that would say mean things do all the time and dont care what people think.

more movie reviews

ok so "a history of violence" was an alright movie. ill give it 3 out of 5 stars. it was sorta different then what i expected, which isnt bad. i just thought that the story was lacking felt shallow and some of the acting was a joke. especially the richie character, but maybe that was on purpose. definitely earns its R rating. violence gore language...etc
i heard great things about this movie so i had to see it just for that reason. when i heard that they were making another rocky movie, i have to admit, i thought it was a horrible idea. aging actor, after rocky 2 things went really south, aging actor get my point. well it wasnt a bad movie. i would give it 3.75 out of 5, because it really made me feel like i was watching a rocky movie again and not a crappy sequel.

hmmm what is there to say about this move. its predictable, confusing, it has major plot holes, its just kind a blah movie. like i think it really had potential here but it just didnt use it. story is weak, like i said before a glaring plot hole. the special features are better then the movie. i will gracously give this one 2 out of 5 stars.

dryer, air conditioner...whats next?

ok so we havent had a dryer for over a week now. miriam first noticed it last friday, when she took the clothes out, that had been running for 2 hours, and they were still wet. the next day she ran it again for 3 hours clothes still wet.
so i called the office.
no answer.
called 3 more times.
no answer.

drove up to the office and waited until someone came in. told him my problem. he said he would call maytag on monday.

oh i forgot to tell you that i had come to the conclusion that it was the exhaust that was clogged.


anyway he calls me on monday, tell me that GE would be coming on wed. i told him it wasnt a GE but a maytag (same as i told him on sat). he says oops ill call maytag.

maytag calls says that the repair man will be here wed and will call the morning of.

ok wed, day 5 without dryer.
rapair man calls comes looks at it and determines its the EXHAUST (five points!) he tells maintenance to clean it out.

so i call the office and ask later that afternoon if it has been cleaned yet.
no.
she says that it will be cleaned as soon as they can.
thursday not clean yet.
friday i call the office again and the same girl says she doesnt know when it will be cleaned i should call back on saturday to speak to mel. she the lady i usually deal with.
saturday i tried once no answer, too busy to try again.
sunday i call, get through the second call and mel says they will fix it tomorrow, and miriam tells her how much laundry we have and if we can get compensated for it. so she gives us a key to another vacant apartment so we can use that washer and dryer. thats cool.

until i get home and discover our air conditioner is leaking water for the third time. and its gurgling again which means its full of water. i think im going to have to have a chat with someone that knows about air conditioners. i have a suspicion that they arent fixing it because they dont know how, and it might be costing us money. our utility bill has been twice as much for the last 2 months.

weekend fun

so this weekend was really fun.
friday
we stayed home and watched "sum of all fears" and just hung out. which is always nice after a long week. the movie was alright, never have been a big ben afleck fan.


saturday
we cleaned the apartment, i mean cleaned it. miriam took the bathroom and the living room, and took the bedroom and the kitchen. and just so you know we choose those i didnt make her do the bathroom. then that afternoon i got a haircut and went to bestbuy then went to the driving range and went through a large basket of balls. i have the blisters to prove it. that night our neighbors came over and we played mario party 8. that was fun to have them over, and to play the wii.

sunday
we went to church and then i went golfing with three other guys from our small group. i havent been golfing since the night before my sisters wedding, which was 6 years ago...i think. so we went 18 holes and played a doubles scramble. i didnt do to bad actually. we tied 83-83. do the math around 4.5 strokes per hole its impressive for me. :) oh yea and i also hit my ankle with a club by accident. not when i was driving! im not THAT bad. i was just walking back to the cart and BAM. felt like someone hit me with a hammer. it still hurts today, quite a bit actually.

so how was everyone else's weekend?

wow its been awhile

so we went up to Belvidere, IL this past weekend to see miriams sister and her family. it was nice to see them. we played lots of card games and bocce ball. on the way home we stopped in shaumburg, IL and i got to hang out with my good friend adam, even though it was only for like an hour. i wish i couldve hung out more.

this week at work has been eh... well work nothing too exciting. the lead designer is moving to Colorado. i dont know when yet neither does he but within the next two months. so hopefully i might bee moving up the ladder? i dont know ill keep you posted.

in other exciting news we bought a Wii.

*cue the heavenly music * this is the coolest video game system ever! miriam and i love playing it. i have pretty much become a wii fanatic. i bought it used off of craigslist. i got a great deal on it. we got 4 remotes (that thing on the left in the pic), 1 nunchuck, 4 games, a 1 gig sd card, and some gamecube stuff.

lemme tell you i went crazy on the boxing last thursday, i mean i was sweating and tired by the end. well the next day my arms hurt like CRAZY, and didnt quit until oh...monday i think. so yes you litterally get a workout playing wii sports.

as you can see i HIGHLY recommend this system to anyone especially if while playing video game you actually want to MOVE and not just sit there.

what is project cloverfield?

im not sure if you have heard the rumor or seen the crazy trailer yet but go here. im so excited about this fil and there really isnt that much info to be found. its by the creator of lost, and they are using by far the greatest marketing strategies for a movie i have ever seen. they are keeping it super secretive. i mean the movie doesnt even have a title yet. not one knows the plot, if its been filmed, nothing except what is provided in the single trailer. the date of 1-18-08 and the fact that there is some kind of giant monster ripping new york a new one.

thats right i said "GIANT MONSTER"

i mean think how long its been since an original giant monster movie came out? i dont even know. the last two that i can think of have both been godzilla and both flops.

but come on with the director of lost you know its going to be interesting to say the least.

order of the phoenix?

hmmm id have to say that i wasnt too terribly disappointed with the movie i didnt really have high expectations going it to the newest harry potter movie. im not saying that i dont like the harry potter movies, but this is the first that i have seen in the theater. i really went because i was taking miriam because she really wanted to go. i would have to say that unlike the mythical bird, this movie did not rise from its ashes. i would give it a solid 3 out of 5 and thats being generous.

its really hard to follow up transformers. which probably made me dislike the movie more, because instead of the movie experience going down hill it took a nose dive off a cliff.

saying that just remembering the last harry potter movie "goblet of fire" the newest seemed to loose the "fire". i remember really liking that one. and the one with the werewolf.

i dont read the books and maybe fans will still love it.

24/7 ?

why would a company say they have 24/7 tech support when all you get at 10:30pm is put on hold? i dont understand it. my belkin router is acting up like itll work fine then sometimes then others the internet is really slow and get disconnected easily. frustrating, but hopefully easily fixed. thats if i ever get through to the tech support. i guess ill try them tomorrow, but they will get a complaint about tonight.

its been a gloomy week for me. im not sure why. ive been moody and down on myself. this week its just been hard to find the silver lining i guess.

things that have been good this week:

it has been cooler here which is nice.

we got new phones and they have speaker phone which is cool. ive never had that before.

miriam fixed pancakes for dinner. they were yummy.

the good yogurt was on sale this week at schnucks.

i got to talk to adam, about movies, games, comics, his classes, and other cool stuff.

i got invited to go play golf tomorrow even though i cant go because i have to work.

no disasters at work, so far lol.

ok well im going to go to bed.

Robots in disguise!

we saw transformers on july forth, and i loved it. the action the story i thought it was a great modern day translation that carried the coolness of the original cartoon. i would highly recommend it to anyone that grew up in the 80's and likes action. and if your going into the movie and your going to get all hung up on how they dont look exactly like they did in the 80's i dont even want to hear it. if they had made them look just like the cartoon it would have been a joke. they would have looked so unrealistic that no one wouldve been able to watch it without a lobotomy. im not going to give any hints or spoilers about the story, because i hate when people do that. i just think they did a bang up job, and i hope they make more.

other than that this week since tues has been sort of a catch up week. we got back into town late tuesday night, and went straight to bed. we had fun on the 4th besides seeing a really cool movie we went to church and had free hot dogs and popcorn, hung out and watched fireworks. the only bad thing was having to sit in traffic for 30+ min to get out of a strip mall parking lot
because they closed 2 of the 4 entrances. why i havent the foggiest.

i had a guy get mad at me because i wouldnt let him in front of me after nearly hitting my car. so to "get me back" he got behind me and turned on his brights. keep in mind we are in gridlock in a parking lot. so this didnt bother me at all but it did bother the people going the other way, so he got yelled at by several people. he showed me....right.

we went to a get together last night. i wasnt all that excited but it turned out to be really fun. it was people from miriams work so i dont know them all that well, but it was nice because while all the women talked the husbands did too. and im one of those now. so thats cool, we talked about guy things and grunted a lot. kidding. but it was still really fun.

i have a hobby of taking pictures of funny or strange signs. so i thought that i would be so generous as to share in the funny, the unusual, and the stupid.
