The infamous Mr. Peanut

so when i got home from work i wanted a snack. i looked and found some peanuts. which got me thinking about mr. peannut. he is probably the most evil peanut in the world. lets think about it.
he is a giant peanut with arms and legs. how did he get that way?

he has a monocle, only villians and bad guys have them.

also he encourages people to eat his kind! other peanuts. and he does this with a smile.

he is aiding genocide. evil evil evil. its written all over his smug little smile and beady cycloptic eye.

but i must say i love peanuts.

arby's dialog

ok so ill do my best to try and remember exactly how this went. keep in mind this i absolutely true.

9:05pm friday may 18, 2007

im hungry we have been driving for 3.5 hours on our way to chicago. i decided to stop at an arby's just north of bloomington, IL. this is the conversation.

girl: hello welcome to arby's would you like to try a combo?
me: do you still have your five for 5.95? cause its not on the menu.
girl: ummm yea....
me: what are the choices again?
girl: arby's melt, ham and swiss, med drink, and a turnover...
me: are homestyle fries? and what about milkshakes?
girl: yea those too.
me: ok...i'll have 2 arby's melts, home-style fries, a lemon-aid and a strawberry milkshake.
girl: we dont have strawberry anymore.
me: what do you have.
g: orange twist, jamocha, vanilla and chocolate.
m: ok then an apple turnover instead.
g: is that everything?
m: yes...could you repeat my order?
g: yea...hold on....
(2 minutes go by.)
g: im sorry just one more minute.
(literally.)
g: could you just order over again?
m: ok. i want 2 arby's melts, home-style fries, a lemon-aid and an apple turnover.
g: ok.
m: could you repeat that?
g: ok. 1 ham and swiss....
m: (interrupting) i didnt order a ham and swiss.
g: ...2 arby's melts, fries, and an apple turnover.
m: and a lemon-aid.
g: thats more than five...
m: no it isn't i didnt order a ham and swiss. (banging my head on the car door)
(i didnt even say ANYTHING that sounded like HAM or SWISS for that matter.)
g: oh. (dumbfounded) ok. so 2 arby's melts, fries, a lemon-aid...
m: and an apple turnover.
g: ok. that'll be 6.54 please pull around.

miriam and i use this time to comically make fun of how completely ludicrous that interactiojn was.
i get to the window and a teenage boy leans out the window.

boy: we're out of turnovers.
m: your out?
b: yea there in the oven it'll be 30 min. what would you like instead?
m: a vanilla shake. (exhaustingly)
b: ok that'll be 6.54

i give him the money and he hands me a vanilla shake dripping ice cream down the side. he hands me the change, and then 2 bags i check the first bag :2 arby's melts and fries. look up.

m: you forgot my lemon-aid.
b: (handing me a cup) i thought you said pepsi.
m: nope.

he finally hands me my lemon-aid as i am checking the other bag. and whats inside:
MY APPLE TURNOVER.

this whole crazy transaction took at least 15 min , actually more like 25 i kid you not.

this was the most bazaar drive thru situation i have ever been in. i mean we werent mad we were laughing the whole time. it could not have been worse if it was scripted. i mean if some one had come up to the car with a camera sayin i was on tv. i wouldnt have doubted them. i think she was just a trainee...

but man stay in school and dont do drugs.

come back tomorrow im going to post about our "hotel adventure"

you'll never look at "super 8" the same way again.

i promise

later.

the shoe search begins

so i have been working at my new job since monday. i like it. i have learned a lot there. ive learned how to use this crazy 1/2 horse power double needle sewing machine, to sew banners, and how to do dye-sublimation transfers. which is this really cool way to print and transfer dies to fabric. this is used to make flags, banners, carpets...etc.

its a production job so no graphic design :( its hard to be up on my feet all day. so ive been looking for shoes, shoes that will not make my feet and legs hurt at the end of the day. being up on my feet all day makes me so tired.

its hard to go to a job when you want more. i feel like i went through all this college, got this degee and now im at a job that i was doing during college. not even that i was DESIGNING in college. what is the deal? i mean im talented, i have a good portfolio, im a good person. why cant i get i job that fulfills me?
and the worst thing about it is that i feel guilty because i am being ungrateful about the job that we prayed for.

arrgg.

so im looking for shoes that wont make my legs feel like they are going to fall off at the end of the day.

im looking at new balance, but if anyone has any recommendations let me know.

FLOOD '07 du du duuuum...

for those who havent seen the news there has been considerable flooding in missouri. not really comparable to the flood of '93, yet they keep doing that on the news. i want to go and take photos of the river this weekend sometime and post them. hopefully i will.

they said on the news last night i think that a dike had broke north of us, the weather lady added "which is good news for st. louis." i was really shocked. im sure that the people that had to evacuate their homes thought, "well at least this is good for st. louis." because i know that that is what i would be thinking.

but here is whats bothering me, people dont like it flooding which is a given. i mean it ruins homes and makes people have to leave. yet people keep building in flood plains and then building dikes and levies to safe guard that property. dont they know why those are called "flood plains"?? its because the river NEEDS that area to flood periodically. otherwise the water goes other HIGHER places.

back in 1993 the area now known as the "chesterfield commons" or "boones crossing" was like 10-13 feet under water. damaged a lot of businesses and homes. so what did people and developers learn? nothing. there is 50 million dollars more development, and thats not counting the repairs. and they built a huge levee to divert the water somewhere else.

brilliant. where did they come up with that original idea?

now dont get me wrong im not one of those tree hugin' hippies that would give up babies to save a tree, but im just saying that i find areas like that hard to show sympathy to. i mean if i put up a tent in road would people feel sorry for me if i got hit?

i just think that people instead of seeing dollar signs, should look around and see the water marks. they are building on the "sand instead of the rock" if you know what i mean.

classic movies

if you have not seen these great movies from the 80's 90's then you should be ashamed of yourself, and then go rent them. these are movies that are great and fun to watch. I love them. and you should too.

it was brought to my attention that i had missed one very important 80's movie so i am amending my post to include it.

4.5 stars out of 5

We saw Spiderman 3 on saturday night. i liked it, it was a good movie. it had some flaws, but what movie doesnt? im sure that there will be some fanboys out there that with curse it up and done because of changes from the comics. but it i think that directors should be allowed some creative changes as long as they make sense. some movies that show when directors "go bad" is X3, Punisher, Electra, Spawn, all crappy movies that someone on the staff should have punched the director in the face when they read the script. i guess punched the script writer too.

I had a wonderful birthday. thanks to my parents, laura, tim and eli, caleb and keli, oh yea and my wonderful wife.

a funny joke

laura, my sister had this on her blog for her class, she is a teacher. i laughed out loud when i read it so i had to share the joy. so here it is:

SO there were two friends strolling through the woods one afternoon, and they came upon this well. They decided that they wanted to find out how deep it was, so they found a rock and tossed it in. They listened for it to hit water and heard nothing. One said to the other, "This well is pretty deep. We need to find something bigger." They looked around, and found a much larger rock about the size of a bowling ball. They threw it into the well, and listened for it to hit the water- still nothing. "Man, that is a deep well! We need to find something REALLY big!" said the guy. At this time, they glanced to their right and saw a large truck axle. They struggled together to get the axle to the well and heaved it over the side. They listened, and STILL they heard nothing! "This well is TOO deep. Forget it," he said with dismay. They began to walk away, and five seconds later, they saw a goat wizz by going like 60 miles an hour and jump into the well. "Weird!" one said, and they continued walking. A little while later they came upon this farmer. The farmer asked, "Have you two see my goat by chance?" "Well actually, we just saw a goat running like 60 miles an hour..." "Oh no!" he said chuckling, "That couldn't be my goat. My goat was tied to a truck axle."

hehehe i think its hilarious.

the phone call/pre interview went well, she said she would keep in touch. she doesnt have a firm date she want to high but she said she's really eager. but if im meant to get the job i will, so i wait.

i have an interview on monday for a temporary job.

oh yea IT'S MY BIRTHDAY

and the pillow is still in the tree.

old commercials

70's commercials for toys how many of these are illegal now lol. miriam and i actually have masterpiece. lol

70's thunderstreak! THUNDERSTREAK! i actually want one of these looks pretty cool!

80's i remember the power glove it was a nintendo bit the big one with it, but i still wanted one so bad back in the day.

80's man i loved my teddy ruxpin i used to sit in my room and listen to his storys at night. i think he is still is in my parents garage except he has an eye poked in.

thought people would enjoy these commercials from our younger years.

is it really a mystery?

"New details about how Josh Hancock spent the last hours before his death. A West County man tells FOX 2 he saw Hancock at the bar at Mike Shannon’s downtown and he appeared to be drunk. We tried to talk with the restaurant manager, Pat Shannon, but were told she was not available. Published reports quote Shannon as saying Hancock declined an offer for a cab. Shannon also declined to say if Hancock consumed alcohol at the restaurant."-fox news

"New revelations about the crash that killed St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Josh Hancock Police sources tell FOX 2 News marijuana was found in Hancock’s rented Ford Explorer. Witnesses say Hancock was drinking at Mike Shannon’s bar before he slammed into a tow truck on Highway 40 early Sunday morning. Hancock was in a crash just days earlier in Sauget, Illinois." -fox news

this i think is another case where the press and or police do not want to tell the truth. if this had been any other person they would have already released why they crash and in the initial report they would have said the driver was believed to be drunk. this has been going on for a week now. the press are acting like its a "mystery" of why he ran into a parked flatbed tow truck with lights flashing, but everyone else on the road was able to safely drive around. i think that this is an attempt to protect "cardinal nation" from the truth that it was completely his fault. lets look at the facts:

people say he appeared to be drunk.
he declined a cab. (cabs are only offered to visably drunk people, bars have to do this)
it was nearly 1 am
he hit a tow truck with bright flashing lights.
we didnt even brake.
and to add to it pot was found in the car.

i think that this is a terrible thing for a person to die in a car accident but lets face it, 3 other people in the last week have have died because of traffic related accidents and they are not getting the same treatment. it is sickening to me to see how much the media loves to drag things on for ratings, just letting information trickle out instead of reporting and letting it drop.

plus his beloved team the cardinals is going to honor his memory in the best way they know, capitalizing on it. that right making money. there season schedule/magazine is going to have a big memorial in it for him, which they start SELLING next week. this will make them sell out for sure, and the news made sure to give that detail out.

Josh Hancock gets laid to rest today, so im sure that the results on his autopsy will come out within three days, just long enough to carry into the next week.
